Gunmen kill 7 customs officers in western Pakistan in two assaults


Unknown gunmen killed two customs officers in western Pakistan, officers stated on Sunday, following the killing of 5 different customs officers within the space in current days.

No group has claimed duty for the 2 assaults since Thursday, which police stated they had been investigating.

Security in areas of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan has deteriorated lately. Attacks, some claimed by the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) Islamist militant group, have risen, principally concentrating on police and safety officers.

“Customs officials were present for checks… when unknown persons opened fire,” stated the district deputy superintendent of police, Muhammad Adnan, including that two individuals had been injured and the realm on a busy freeway had been cordoned off.

“Three days ago, five officials, including an officer, of the customs department, were killed in a shooting in the same area and the attackers escaped,” he stated.

The rise in assaults has escalated tensions between Pakistan and the Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban administration.

Pakistan, saying militants have been utilizing Afghan territory to launch assaults, has referred to as on the Taliban to take motion and carried out an airstrike final month on Afghan territory.

The Taliban have denied permitting using Afghan soil for militancy and stated Pakistan’s safety points are a home difficulty for Islamabad.
