Russia requires UNSC assembly after U.S. and Britain strike Yemen

Russia stated it had requested an pressing assembly of the United Nations Security Council on Friday to debate army strikes on Yemen by the United States and Britain.

“Russia has requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on January 12 in connection with the U.S. and UK strikes on Yemen,” Russia’s everlasting mission to the United Nations stated.

The United States and Britain launched strikes from the air and sea in opposition to Houthi army targets in Yemen in response to the motion’s assaults on ships within the Red Sea, a dramatic regional widening of the Israel-Hamas warfare in Gaza.

A spokesman for Yemen’s Houthis stated there was no justification for the U.S.-British assault and stated the Iran-backed group will proceed focusing on ships heading in the direction of Israel.
